TORABHAIG Sound of Sleat Batch Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky 70cl 60.2%

Torabhaig Sound of Sleat Batch Strength is a powerful, limited-edition release that amplifies the refined coastal peat character introduced in the original Sound of Sleat expression. Named after the dramatic strait that separates Skye from the Scottish mainland, this batch strength bottling captures the raw maritime energy and rugged beauty of the island with exceptional clarity.

Bottled at a formidable 60.2% ABV, non chill-filtered and natural in colour, this whisky delivers a bold, structured and deeply expressive interpretation of Torabhaig’s “well-tempered peat.” Matured in selected bourbon casks, it offers a striking balance of smoke, citrus brightness, fresh malt and coastal minerality — a vivid demonstration of the distillery’s rapidly rising reputation.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Vibrant maritime peat smoke with citrus peel, green apple and warm barley. Notes of vanilla bean, sea spray, charred oak and herbal freshness deepen the aroma.

Palate: Bold and full-bodied at batch strength. Waves of earthy peat smoke, salted caramel, grilled lemon and peppered oak dominate the palate, supported by sweet malt, brine and subtle orchard fruit. Oily and structured, with impressive intensity.

Finish: Long, smoky and invigorating. Lingering embers, citrus oil, seawater salinity, charred oak and gentle spice fade slowly, leaving a powerful coastal impression.

About the Distillery:

Torabhaig Distillery, established in 2017 on the Isle of Skye, is only the second licensed single malt distillery in the island’s history. Built within a restored 19th-century farm steading, the distillery combines traditional methods with a focus on precision, structure and peat character, aiming to create a unique style known as “well-tempered peat.” Long fermentation, copper pot distillation and the island’s rugged maritime climate contribute to a robust yet elegant spirit. Early releases have earned wide acclaim, marking Torabhaig as one of the most exciting and promising new distilleries in Scotland.
