LINDORES Friar John Cor (2026 Release) Lowland Single Malt Scotch Whisky 70cl 52.5%
The 2026 release of Lindores Friar John Cor pays tribute to the monk whose name appears in the earliest known written reference to Scotch whisky. In 1494, Friar John Cor of Lindores Abbey was commissioned by King James IV to make 'aqua vitae', establishing an extraordinary historical connection between Lindores and the origins of Scotch whisky. Matured in a combination of ex-bourbon barrels, Amontillado Sherry and Pedro Ximénez Sherry casks, this cask-strength release brings together Lindores' elegant Lowland spirit with layers of rich fruit, nutty Sherry character and indulgent sweetness. Bottled at 52.5% cask strength, it is a powerful and characterful expression celebrating more than five centuries of whisky heritage at Lindores.

About the Distillery:
Lindores Abbey Distillery is located beside the historic Lindores Abbey in Newburgh, Fife, a site with an extraordinary connection to the origins of Scotch whisky. In 1494, the Exchequer Rolls recorded a commission from King James IV to Friar John Cor of Lindores Abbey for malt with which to make 'aqua vitae', widely recognised as the earliest written reference to Scotch whisky.
More than five centuries later, whisky production returned to Lindores with the establishment of the modern distillery. Combining this remarkable heritage with contemporary whisky making, Lindores Abbey Distillery produces an elegant Lowland spirit with a focus on quality, provenance and carefully considered maturation, reconnecting one of Scotland's most historically significant whisky sites with its distilling past.
