This exceptional three-bottle set marks the historic first whisky releases from Lagg Distillery on the Isle of Arran. Production began in 2019, and these inaugural bottlings — Batches 1, 2 & 3 — offer the first opportunity to experience Lagg’s distinctive, heavily peated house style. Crafted with Concerto malted barley peated to 50ppm and distilled using the distillery’s handmade copper pot stills, each release showcases a different cask influence while retaining the signature Lagg character of citrus brightness, heather sweetness and enveloping bonfire smoke. Bottled at 50% ABV, non chill-filtered and with natural colour, this limited-edition trio represents an exciting new chapter in modern Island whisky.

About the Lagg Inaugural Trio

Lagg Distillery, located at the southern tip of the Isle of Arran, was founded to produce a bold, peated single malt distinct from its sister distillery in Lochranza. The inaugural trio represents the first-ever whisky releases produced entirely onsite since spirit began flowing on 19 March 2019. Made using heavily peated Concerto barley and water from the distillery’s own borehole, these releases reveal a vibrant and modern interpretation of peated Island whisky — smoky, fruity, characterful and youthful with purpose.

Batch 1 — Ex-Bourbon Cask Matured

Matured exclusively in first fill ex-bourbon barrels for just over three years.

Profile: Bright citrus, fresh heather, vanilla sweetness and bonfire smoke. A clean, smoky and characterful introduction to Lagg’s distillery style.

Batch 2 — Ex-Oloroso Sherry Firkin Finish

Matured in first fill ex-bourbon casks for 30 months, followed by 6 months in bespoke 55L ex-Oloroso sherry firkins.

Profile: A beautifully balanced combination of sultanas, warm baking spices, rich sweetness and soft, earthy smoke.

Batch 3 — Ex-Rioja Red Wine Firkin Finish

Matured in first fill ex-bourbon casks for 30 months, then finished for 6 months in 55L ex-Rioja red wine firkins.

Profile: A richer, deeper expression with notes of dark berries, toasted oak, red wine tannins and lingering peat smoke.
