This limited edition Madeira Cask Matured release from Kilchoman Distillery showcases the unique influence of fortified wine casks on the distillery’s signature peated spirit. Distilled in May 2016 and matured for 5 years and 3 months in 46 fresh Madeira hogsheads, this expression offers a vibrant fusion of rich fruit sweetness, coastal smoke and the unmistakable depth of Madeira wine maturation. Bottled at 50% and presented non chill-filtered with natural colour, it is a lively, complex and beautifully balanced Islay single malt.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Layers of caramel, orange zest and ripe plums, supported by mixed spices, vanilla sweetness and the distinctive presence of rich peat smoke.

Palate: Bright and expressive, with zesty citrus and ripe peach leading into flavours of raisins, walnuts, dark chocolate and charred oak. The fruit-forward Madeira influence is beautifully balanced by Kilchoman’s earthy, well-integrated smoke.

Finish: Juicy and warming, with notes of fortified wine, burnt sugar, dark fruits, lingering peat smoke and rich Christmas cake depth.

About the Distillery:

Founded in 2005, Kilchoman Distillery is a family-owned farm distillery located on the rugged west coast of Islay. As one of Scotland’s few true farm-to-bottle producers, Kilchoman grows and malts a portion of its own barley on-site, maintaining complete control over each stage of production. The distillery combines traditional methods with a hands-on, small-scale approach, resulting in whiskies that embody both Islay’s coastal character and Kilchoman’s distinctive house style.
