The Isle of Harris Single Malt Scotch Whisky is the distillery’s new signature dram, created to bring the island’s name even more directly to the fore. Designed as a wonderfully approachable expression of the distillery’s lightly peated island style, it is made, matured and married entirely in the Outer Hebrides. Matured in a combination of ex-Heaven Hill and Buffalo Trace bourbon casks and ex-Oloroso sherry casks, the whisky brings together butterscotch sweetness, floral character, gentle spice and a subtle thread of peat smoke. After blending, the whisky is returned to cask for a minimum of 12 weeks of marrying before bottling, adding further harmony and balance.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Butterscotch and iced cherry Bakewell tart lead the way, followed by pastry-shop sweetness, bright fruit and delicate floral notes. Hints of boiled fruit sweets and gentle spice add further complexity.

Palate: Rich buttery caramels unfold alongside sweet clove and ginger, balanced by the distillery’s signature dry, flinty character. The combination of bourbon and Oloroso casks brings warmth, sweetness and gentle spice, while the light peat adds depth without overpowering the spirit.

Finish: Long and creamy, with lingering sweetness, gentle spice and a subtle hint of Outer Hebridean peat smoke.

About the Distillery:

Isle of Harris Distillery opened in 2015 in the village of Tarbert on the Isle of Harris in Scotland’s Outer Hebrides. Often known as the Social Distillery, it was founded with a strong commitment to creating sustainable local employment and supporting the island community.

The distillery produces its whisky through gentle mashing, long fermentations and patient maturation, with casks aged at Ardhasaig just a few miles from the distillery and exposed to the influence of the North Atlantic climate. Its whisky-making team is drawn from the local community, with production guided by hand, eye and nose to create a distinctive island style that combines fruity, floral and vibrant character with gentle peat smoke and a strong sense of place.
