Ardnahoe Bholsa is the second core release from new Islay distillery, named after the spectacular Bholsa sea cave on the island's rugged Atlantic coastline. This beautifully balanced single malt captures Ardnahoe's distinctive style, marrying elegant Islay peat smoke with rich fruit and maritime freshness. Matured in a carefully selected combination of ex-bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks, Bholsa offers greater richness and depth while retaining the distillery's signature refined peat character. Bottled at 50% ABV, non chill-filtered and with natural colour, it is a wonderfully expressive Islay whisky that reflects both the island's dramatic landscape and Ardnahoe's traditional approach to whisky making.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Gentle peat smoke mingles with ripe orchard fruits, honey and vanilla fudge. Layers of orange zest, dried apricots and toasted almonds develop alongside coastal sea spray and delicate oak spice.

Palate: Rich, oily and beautifully balanced. Sweet malt, caramel and baked apples are complemented by dark raisins, milk chocolate and warming cinnamon. The elegant Islay peat builds gradually, accompanied by maritime salinity and a subtle peppery spice.

Finish: Long, smooth and gently smoky. Lingering notes of sweet oak, dried fruits, salted caramel and soft peat embers fade into a refined maritime freshness.

About the Distillery:

Founded in 2018, Ardnahoe Distillery is the ninth whisky distillery on the Isle of Islay. Owned by the independent family company Hunter Laing & Co., Ardnahoe combines traditional craftsmanship with modern precision, producing a classic Islay spirit using exceptionally long fermentation, worm tub condensers and two of Scotland's longest lyne arms. These traditional methods create a rich, fruity new make spirit that perfectly complements the island's signature peat smoke. Matured on Islay and bottled without chill-filtration or added colouring, Ardnahoe's whiskies embody the island's rugged maritime character while establishing a distinctive house style built on balance, elegance and complexity.
