The Balvenie DoubleWood 12 Year Old is one of Speyside’s most iconic single malts, celebrated for its rich character and beautifully layered maturation profile. Aged for at least twelve years in traditional American oak ex-bourbon barrels and hogsheads, the whisky is then transferred to Spanish oak ex-Oloroso sherry casks for a further nine months — a process pioneered by Balvenie’s Malt Master David Stewart. This dual maturation imparts depth, complexity and harmony, marrying sweet vanilla and honey with warming spice and delicate sherry richness. Bottled at 40%, non chill-filtered and natural in colour, DoubleWood remains a timeless Balvenie classic.
