CRAIGELLACHIE 13 Year Old Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky 70cl 46%

Craigellachie 13 Year Old is the bold, characterful flagship of Craigellachie Distillery, a Speyside single malt that proudly goes against the region’s lighter, floral stereotype. Produced using traditional worm tub condensers and long fermentations, this 13-year-old whisky has a rich, slightly meaty character with tropical fruit, malty sweetness and a subtle whiff of smoke. Bottled at 46%, non chill-filtered and natural in colour, it’s a robust, flavoursome dram that appeals to whisky drinkers who enjoy texture, personality and a savoury edge in their Speyside malt.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Baked apples, pineapple and ripe pear with malty biscuits and vanilla fudge. Underneath sit notes of toasted barley, light sulphury “meaty” hints, a touch of herbal freshness and gentle campfire smoke.

Palate: Full-flavoured and slightly waxy. Flavours of tropical fruit (pineapple, mango), barley sugar and toffee are joined by spice, toasted oak and a faint hint of struck match in classic Craigellachie style. Malty sweetness and a savoury, gently smoky edge keep things bold and balanced.

Finish: Medium-long with lingering malt, soft oak spice, grilled pineapple, a touch of citrus and a subtle, earthy smokiness.

About the Distillery:

Founded in 1891 in the village of Craigellachie at the heart of Speyside, Craigellachie Distillery is known for producing a robust, characterful single malt with a distinctive weighty texture. Long fermentations and the use of traditional worm tub condensers help create a slightly sulphury, meaty spirit style that sets Craigellachie apart from lighter Speyside malts, often showing notes of tropical fruit, malt, spice and a faint whiff of smoke. Historically prized as a component in blended Scotch, Craigellachie is now increasingly recognised as a bold, individual single malt in its own right, appealing to whisky drinkers who enjoy rich texture and a savoury edge.
