The Hearach is the historic first single malt whisky from the Isle of Harris — a landmark release from this remote Outer Hebridean island. Named after the Gaelic word for a native of Harris (Hearach), this inaugural whisky captures the island’s rugged beauty, maritime climate and deep-rooted cultural heritage. Batch 8 continues the distillery’s small-batch approach, crafted with meticulous care and matured in a combination of ex-bourbon American oak barrels, Oloroso sherry and Fino sherry butts to create a beautifully balanced Island malt. Bottled at 46%, non chill-filtered and natural in colour, this release reflects the purity, craftsmanship and spirit of the Isle of Harris.

About the Distillery:

Opened in 2015 in the island's main village of Tarbert, Isle of Harris Distillery was founded to bring sustainable craft, community vitality and global attention to the remote Outer Hebrides. Known for its commitment to local employment and traditional methods, the distillery works slowly and deliberately, producing whisky that reflects the island’s windswept landscapes, wild seas and cultural heritage. While best known initially for the award-winning Isle of Harris Gin, the distillery always intended to create a single malt rooted in place and people. The Hearach, distilled, matured and bottled on Harris, marks a milestone not only for the distillery but for the island itself — the first whisky ever to be legally produced there.
