KILKERRAN Heavily Peated Batch 13 (2025 Release) Campbeltown Single Malt Scotch Whisky 70cl 58.6%
The 2025 release of Kilkerran Heavily Peated Batch 13 continues Glengyle Distillery’s acclaimed exploration of a bold, smoky Campbeltown style. Distilled using traditional methods — including floor malted barley from sister distillery Springbank — this batch showcases an assertive peat influence layered with Kilkerran’s signature oily texture, coastal freshness and vibrant citrus character. Bottled at a powerful 58.6% ABV, natural in colour and non chill-filtered, this limited-edition cask strength series reflects the old-fashioned, hands-on whisky-making that has made Campbeltown world-famous. Batch 13 is rich, smoky, complex and unmistakably Kilkerran.
Country: Scotland
Region: Campbeltown
Distillery: Glengyle Distillery, Campbeltown
Type: Single Malt Scotch Whisky
ABV: 58.6% (Cask Strength)
Maturation: Matured in a combination of carefully selected bourbon and sherry casks to balance robust smoke with sweet fruit and coastal character.
Size: 70cl
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Intense peat smoke rises first, followed by citrus zest, vanilla pod, honeyed malt and coastal sea breeze. Toasted marshmallow, warm oak and subtle dried fruit hints add depth.
Palate: Full-bodied and bold at cask strength. Waves of earthy peat, smoked barley, peppered oak and brine meet flavours of sweet vanilla cream, lemon curd, malt loaf and a touch of sultana sweetness. The interplay of smoke and sweetness is balanced and deeply satisfying.
Finish: Long, smoky and warming. Lingering notes of kiln smoke, salted caramel, citrus oil, maritime salinity and gentle oak spice carry through to a powerful and memorable conclusion.
About the Distillery:
Revived in 2004 after nearly a century of silence, Glengyle Distillery is a cornerstone of Campbeltown’s whisky renaissance. Located just a short walk from its sister distillery Springbank, Glengyle produces Kilkerran Single Malt using traditional methods, including floor-malting, slow fermentation and double distillation. The whisky is known for its lightly peated, oily and subtly coastal style — though the Heavily Peated range offers a bolder, smoke-driven interpretation. Matured entirely in Campbeltown’s salt-laden air and always bottled without chill-filtration or added colouring, Kilkerran has earned a reputation for authenticity, craftsmanship and exceptional quality.
