CRAIGELLACHIE 17 Year Old Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky 70cl 46%
Craigellachie 17 Year Old is a richly expressive Speyside single malt that turns up the depth and complexity of the distillery’s famously robust house style. Extra years in oak have softened some of the more rugged edges of the younger expressions, bringing a rounded, almost waxy texture and layers of tropical fruit, malt sweetness and gentle spice, while still retaining Craigellachie’s distinctive savoury, slightly meaty character. Bottled at 46%, non chill-filtered and natural in colour, it’s a superb choice for those who enjoy full-bodied, characterful Speyside whisky with real presence.

Tasting Notes:
Nose: Ripe pineapple, baked apple and stewed pear with honeyed malt and vanilla fudge. Hints of toasted nuts, light toffee, waxy citrus peel and a subtle savoury Craigellachie “meaty” note in the background.
Palate: Full, rounded and slightly waxy. Flavours of tropical fruit, barley sugar and soft toffee unfold with crème brûlée, roasted nuts and gentle oak spice. A faint whiff of smoke and a touch of struck match add complexity without dominating.
Finish: Medium-long and warming, with lingering malt sweetness, grilled pineapple, soft baking spice and a lightly earthy, savoury edge.
About the Distillery:
Founded in 1891 in the village of Craigellachie at the heart of Speyside, Craigellachie Distillery is known for producing a robust, characterful single malt with a distinctive weighty texture. Long fermentations and the use of traditional worm tub condensers help create a slightly sulphury, meaty spirit style that sets Craigellachie apart from lighter Speyside malts, often showing notes of tropical fruit, malt, spice and a faint whiff of smoke. Historically prized as a component in blended Scotch, Craigellachie is now increasingly recognised as a bold, individual single malt in its own right, appealing to whisky drinkers who enjoy rich texture and a savoury edge.
