CRAIGELLACHIE 13 Year Old Armagnac Cask Finish Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky 70cl 46%

Craigellachie 13 Year Old Armagnac Cask Finish takes the distillery’s bold, meaty Speyside character and layers it with the rich fruit and oak of French Armagnac. After initial maturation in American oak, the whisky is finished in carefully selected Armagnac casks, adding notes of dried fruit, spice and glossy sweetness to Craigellachie’s trademark tropical fruit, malt and subtle smoke. Bottled at 46%, it’s a distinctive, full-flavoured dram that pairs the robustness of Craigellachie with a decadent, continental twist.

Country: Scotland

Region: Speyside

Distillery: Craigellachie Distillery, Craigellachie, Speyside

Type: Single Malt Scotch Whisky

ABV: 46%

Maturation: Matured in American oak casks then finished in Armagnac casks, adding layers of dried fruit, spice and oak richness to Craigellachie’s robust spirit.

Size: 70cl

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Stewed apples, apricots and sultanas with vanilla toffee and honeyed malt. Hints of candied orange peel, polished oak, soft baking spice and a faint savoury Craigellachie “meaty” note in the background.

Palate: Full and textured. Flavours of dried apricots, figs and plum jam combine with barley sugar, toffee and a touch of almond. The Armagnac influence brings gentle tannins, spice and grape sweetness, balanced by Craigellachie’s underlying tropical fruit and a subtle wisp of smoke.

Finish: Medium-long with lingering dried fruits, soft oak spice, malted biscuit and a lightly savoury, warming afterglow.

About the Distillery:

Founded in 1891 in the village of Craigellachie at the heart of Speyside, Craigellachie Distillery is known for producing a robust, characterful single malt with a distinctive weighty texture. Long fermentations and the use of traditional worm tub condensers help create a slightly sulphury, meaty spirit style that sets Craigellachie apart from lighter Speyside malts, often showing notes of tropical fruit, malt, spice and a faint whiff of smoke. Historically prized as a component in blended Scotch, Craigellachie is now increasingly recognised as a bold, individual single malt in its own right, appealing to whisky drinkers who enjoy rich texture and a savoury edge.
